Having worked in the creative industry for quite some time now, I know how important network and community are. That's why I started organizing a local meetup to bring together people and talk shop. The only problem was that nobody knew about it yet, and I preferred not to be sitting alone at the table contemplating my shoes.
The goal of this personal project was to create a video that resonated with people in the creative field and was pleasing to their ever so critical eyeballs. It was also a way to indulge in the things that excite me about motion design, experiment, and keep me from getting rusty. I also really need to thank all my favorite Italians at "amplitudo" for bringing this video to a whole different level with their sound design.
Screen recording of the work and the tender love put into this project. A lot of the iterating, experimenting, backtracking, and dubious decision-making during the process have been left out for the sake of keeping things short.
Storyboard
Though I love the serendipity and room for chaos that come with personal projects, a basic storyboard keeps me on track, preventing me from getting lost in the maze of endless creative decisions and directions to explore.
Marseille
In the first couple of seconds, I wanted to address the Marseille locals personally through imagery that is instantly recognizable by the 'in-crowd'.
Digital
This is the part where you finally get to see some sweet Web/Wingding action.
Creatives
The design here was inspired by recognizable software interfaces familiar to the audience.
Meetup
Representing the gathering of people from different parts of the creative industry, I created these colorful and friendly characters.
